1. North Wind
--------------------------------------------------------------------

And the road streches out before me
A thousand miles maybe more
Turning back’s getting harder and harder
Moving on is not much easier though

Far beyond is my destination
For behind is the love I left
And its easy to put the peddle down and drive
But it’s a whole lot harder to forget
For all things that I left there
For everything lost I don’t care
many reasons to drive just one to stay

Ooh let the north wind blow again
Let it guide me to a place where I can roam
Ooh theres a life that’s calling me out
But theres the love a left behind calling me home

Further on much more invested
Every mile my strong resolve
Keep it moving don’t try and test it
Take the gamble and bet it all
As the miles crawl by in silence
Not to sure where this road goes
always knew that I had to try it
Couple days more and then I’ll know

For all the thrill of adventure
Of course I know I’ll miss her
But moving along has always been my way

Oh there’s a first time; for everything
Every song I sing and every wish I dream and every road I choose
But it’s hard task; to make my journeys end
To break me down and show me how, before I leave again
For even though id love to stay, im bound to that north wind

The love I left behind calling me home
The love I left behind calling me home

2. Breaking the mold
--------------------------------------------------------------------

come tell me stories old and new
like something known for certain
your holding back those twisted dreams
they fall from you like snow

don’t let it be forgotten; don’t let it be like this
let it be the one thing you never want to miss
holding on to reason that was locked behind the door you opened up before you

changing shape to the one that you knew now
finally breaking the mold that you grew out
not the path but the journey to guide you
did you think that love waits like I do for you
love waits for you

keep going don’t you turn around
nothing stays nothings certain
all I know is knowing nothing
can’t you hear me don’t you know me

isn’t all this real; did you even notice
can you even feel; or will you just ignore this
taking away everything I knew inside the world was not for you to hide in

stop thinking everything’s a thought
as each memory gets jaded
just find the words you want
just speak your mind let it be done

it’s the only answer; it’s the only way
why not believe in action; cause only thoughts will stay
making up the story slowly as we go you always were the one to know

------------------------------------------------------
3. Know the way
------------------------------------------------------

Oh to look back on my life and see it once again
Oh remember the past the way I was again

Oh I know the way, but I have to find myself
Oh I have to find myself
I’m going on my way
But I have to see inside and I have to be me for a while

I have traveled far away and I have learned
Been lost and been afraid and then returned

Back to the place that is real back to sorrow back to things
That bring me down
Back to the place that I dream
Back to joy and all that’s left for me now

But I believe in life and love
To be and to become
I wonder what goes on
And I believe that I am free
To write my own belief
And I know that when its time to move a long that I will go
Walk away

4. Another Lonely Night
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Another lonely night,
just a voice apon the phone
in this room I call my home
theres no relief

From the questions in my mind,
from the passing of the time
oh the truth was ours to find
whats left for me

Could I pretend
I’ve played all the roles on every stage
read all the words on every page
its strange

Thought Id finally found a friend
Made a choice I could defend
I couldn’t know how soon it end
Or how you’d change

And all the lines are changing
In this script we didn’t write
Oh theres no hope tonight we travel on
We couldn’t find forever in the dream
So we had to fade it seems and so we had to drift apart before the dawn

The stories I’ve written
Everything I’ve done
And all that I will become
It starts to fade

And the players lose their parts
They don’t know where to start
Like we’re forgetting who we are
Whats left to say

So don’t use words
Direct me now to go
I’ve missed my cue I know
If there was a way

If there’s a chance to make things right
If we tried we might
But close the curtain
Fade the lights and
And you walk away

we change into our costumes
and all we might have said
or once felt now is dead
lets start the scene

curtain up and lights and sound
as the play sets up the round
the lines that can be found
cant be redeemed

when you can break me with a word
and cut me with a smile
I did believe you for a while
I had trust

But in the end it was betrayed
Though I never was afraid
I don’t regret the choice I made
Here as its done

5. To Mrs. Berghardt
------------------------------------------------------

To Mrs. Berghardt in Wisconsin; I know you haven’t heard from me before but
I knew your husband in Alaska; I’m writing you because he wont be coming home now

Set off in June from Seattle; with lust for gold our hearts did burn
Fourteen people left the harbor; but only four men would return

Most folks said we’re crazy; but they don’t know what it means
To live a life of adventure; and walk the path of your dreams

We reached Skagway in the fall of 97; when the north wind began to blow so cold
We planned to stake our climb for mining in the Yukon; Our future fortunes held in dreams of gold

And we took White Pass through the mountains; when the first snows began to fall
We had a years worth of food and supplies; but by spring we’d lost it all
John lost two toes to frostbite; and we lost two men to disease
Yes times were hard in those cold winter months; it was all we could do not freeze

We made a claim just off the river; near Dawson city in the spring time
We panned the river and we dug into the mountain; struck gold in spring of 99

Now john your husband was a strong man; and he was master of the mine
But when the shaft collapsed and brought the mountain down on him
He couldn’t make it out in time

I have your gold here in Missouri; I kept my word I have your share for you
I’ll bring it to you and your family in Wisconsin; but your husband wont be there

I know john loved you dearly; often talked of how his kids had grown
He’s laid to rest now in the mountains of the Yukon
So he wont be coming home

But don’t you call him crazy; I know that you know what it means
To live a life of adventure; and walk the path of your dreams
To live a life of adventure; and walk the path of your dreams
